As I get older I’m finding that a lot of the “intellectuals” I used to admire are actually just condescending and pretentious. And also realizing how much more important it is to be present, considerate, and empathetic because nobody really knows what they’re talking about and anyone who claims to know everything about anything is feeding you bs.
“When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.”
- Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
I am also realizing that actual intellectuals make their subjects easy to understand, and faux intelectuals will attempt to baffle.
“If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.”
- Albert Einstein
“A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five.”
Hi aunties, I filed my taxes a couple months ago and still havent recieved my stimulus check. It was my first year filing independently, so I'm worried the check went to my parents as if I was a dependent, and since I'm not on speaking terms with my parents, I'm not sure what to do about this or how to make sure I get paid.
Oh no! That would be awful, so I truly hope it isn’t the case. But as the stimulus checks were calculated based on 2018 taxes if you didn’t file 2019 taxes quickly enough, then that’s likely what happened.
So you can find out if your money did indeed go to your parents, without having to contact them.
My recent post on the stimulus check has opened the floodgates on questions like this. So this is the only one I’m answering tonight, as I don’t have any other advice other than to check at the IRS’s website above, and reread what we explained here:
